Jumped in the bay down Brighton way yesterday arvo to catch the run-in tide. Vis not too flash - about 2 metres. No pinkies seen. But nailed a nice flattie with the new pranger head from point blank. Stoned it through the back of the head but took me ages to get it off the pranger. Almost ripped its head apart to get it out. Any advice on pranger removal much appreciated. Then proceeded to bumble around like a cork in a 5mil with 7 3lb weights. Note to self - lose weight. Flattie was pretty good for dinner. Stoning it must have improved the flavour. Not much of a report but nice to get back in the water.

To get fish off a pranger put it on your line or toggle , whichever you use , put the spear back in the gun then put the fish between your feet and pull on the gun. this works nearly every time but a couple of times I"ve had to unscrew it and use a spare. Once in the skull of a big gummy I had to get it out using an old school dive knife like a chisel back at camp.

It was ages ago Rhino. I've only got a slide of it. If it was weighed I think it would have been the record she was a big female and full of embryos. Nearly 6 foot long in the old money.

Thanks Greg. I gave the 'flattie between the feet' technique a go but probably need more practice. Cheers.

It's coming Rhino. All good things take time. It's around at my Mums and she has taken the grandkids away for a few days.

My mum gets back tomorrow.
BTW does anyone know how to get a god digital image from a slide. The only way I can think of is project it on a wall and take a photo of that.

You can buy slide scanners - I think I saw Auspost selling them a few months back for about 100 bucks each.

Thats probably the best way, otherwise.... your method works too :)

Slide on the wall unless you wanna spend cash, if you've got any other decent slides do them too. Any pics a good pic I reckon!
