Hello,
Im new to spearfishing, but extremely keen. However i do not know where to start, what to buy, or where to go.
i was looking for someone to give me some tips and refer me to some gear that is not to deer.

I live in port phillip bay, around Mordialloc and was thinking that black rock may offer a decent site for a beginner like myself, any thoughts?

any input would be appreciated

cheers :)

I live in Black Rock - very high quality spot. Its one of my go-to spots for spearfishing in the bay. Mordy also offers good spearfishing about 100m from the pier. Good reef there with some good fish around. I can help you out in regards to some gear for cheap price such as gloves and a float line if thats any use to you? Let me know. Shoot me a message when you're fully equipped with gear and we will go for a dive sometime if you're up for some cold water spearing!

Legendary Skindiving in Brunswick is also a very good spot to start for gear. Good prices and quality gear that will last for a while. Spearfishing is an expensive sport because there is always something to upgrade / buy (I learnt the hard way).

Brett Illingworth from Esclapez (Located in Rye) also have very high quality gear.
