am planning to tow the boat to Eden for a few good days without children and just dive without feeding, bathing, sleeping schedules governing the days
I've never been to Eden and need some advice on the area
Perhaps I should invest time on a short recognissance trip, and am happy to team up with anyone who's been before and keen to go soon
However, for the time being I just wonder if anyone is willing to spare a little time providing some comments or be available for a chat at the upcoming club meeting. (7 March)
Thanks

Hey ligure,

Been to Eden a few times now. Spearing is very good with a great range of species to target pending ability taste etc.

Kingies are the favoured target species with a lot of bommies and headland to choose from. Boat will be a great advantage to reach those hard to access locations.

I have a mate going up on this weekend with the plan to target kingies on rod though as word is out that they are around at the moment in a big way there.

In the way of spots for kingies, just follow the boats and/or get reports of boats coming in and tackle shop etc.
Great thing about eden is how sheltered it is, and if it is too windy/swell for dive in ocean for kingies just get inside the bay somewhere and get a nice feed of reefies for dinner.

One spot that could be classified as in the bay that not many boats fish for kingies and where i have caught them on an occasion when not many kingies were being caught is off Boyd tower, there are nice bommies that come up from 20+metres to 8-12metres off the point.

feel free to PM me with any specific questions you may have.

Hey Danny,
Thank you for your feedback
I'm still doing research and putting together a few items/questions for discussion with some of the guys at the next club meeting, but might take your offer and send you a PM once I familiarise with the area on paper
Thanks again

Well ... just back from my trip and I must say the fishing there is really good even when the visibility is not ideal
Two Fold Bay was really murky and in some spots I couldn't literally even see the muzzle of my 1.1 gun; it was pea soup.
But just around the corner and out of the bay along the south side of Ben Boyd National Park a whole different story, although vis was still touch and go with Wednesday and Thursday the best days with about 15m viz in the open, Friday much less but still within 5-6m. In Bittangabee Bay the first meter of water was a bright pink but below was nice and clear.
Plenty of good fish seen, taken and lost ... plenty of bait balls (yellow tail scad and mackerel) but no kingfish, not even for those fishing on the line. Lots of wobegongs too.
Highlight was a 3.250 Kg tailor more than 80cm long, followed by numerous good size blue morwongs, with the last fish of the trip a nice yellow fin bream.
For now my unfinished business is with a really nice bonito that squeezed its way out of my hands ripping off ... next time.
