Just a quick one, some pics from my trip. Coming up the Stuart Highway got into some Yabbies and line fished some Yellowbelly Pearch, just south of Oodnadatta. In Alice Springs i had to rip the dash off the car and hot wire it with the help of some Read Head Match Sticks. After a little car troubles and big red rocks we made it to Darwin. I had hooked up a boat dive with Chris “the copper” from ACE spearguns and we headed out in search of the mighty Black Jew (malloway). All the diving was done in dirty viz 1-4m with Sharks and Crocks. At the bottle washer i managed my first Makky small, but was tasty. After a couple of windy days we got back out on the water. Chris managed a nice Jew and i got my first Jack. I am now in Kununnura after trying my luck on the Ord River for hooking into the hard hitting Barra. Managed 4-5 fish on lures, the biggest being this @ 70cm. Will be in Broom by the end of the week.
Ps. Watch this space. Hope all is well in Melbourne.
oZ.

Trip update. Exmouth area. shore diving viz 1-20m+. windy, swell, sharks fun times.
Ningaloo reef area there are only a hand full of places you can take a speargun. After a bit of "talking to the locals" i got the low down on a couple of HOT spots and when the wind died down it was on.. Met up with a brazilian bloke who had been spearing for about 6months loving every bit of it. Leo and his miss were hitch-hiking around the west and made exmouth home for the last 6 months.
Dive one.The big pelajic fish were amazing. In the first 5 mins 50m off shore schooled by a small school of tuna. Didnt have a chance!.Every 10-15 mins a school of large maccys would come in close for a look but with good viz it was hard to make an approach. (tips please?) :P
Stuff this! swim in get the flashers and straight away i got this small school macy. Not a spanish but 'ok' on the plate.
Second day of diving at spot x was hit and miss. Again in the first 5 mins (5m of water) i put a spear into a 10-15kLong Fin Tuna that towed me around for a minute and tore off. I was gutted! My brazilian friend saw the hole thing and when i had finished swearing at nothing but the open ocean he could not shut up "I can not believe my eyes what i see" "wow, fucking tuna, wow man".... after trying burly and flashers for somthing to come back nothing was doing so we swum back to shore and i shot this queen fish. gave the flesh to leo and his friend and kept a little for bait..
i will let the pics tell the rest.
enjoy oZ.

Sounds like a ripper trip Oscar. I loved Exmouth. Get down to Coral Bay and Torquoise Bay for a snorkel. No spearing but still worth it.
