Went out for my first spear today at Portarlington with a bloke I met on this forum.

Suprisingly caught these four fish !!

Had a ball, looking forward to my next outing and hopefully getting some different species.

The only down side was tearing the f@ck out of my smooth skin wetsuit. The guy at Legendary isn't back til monday...don't suppose anyone knows a repair place that might be open tomorrow??

Do you already have the book "sea fishes of south Australia"?
If not it's really good for learning the different types of fish

Yeah for sure mate, I'm not wanting to rub anyone the wrong way, I'm just starting out though.

I knew these ones were ok, I just meant for the future when I come across other species in different waters.

Anyway....the taste test went well!

Possibly mate, I spoke to one of the guys who is going to Cape Schanck yesterday and he said it's pretty good there and they don't go too extreeme. Although I was pretty happy with where we went and my brother is hanging out for some fresh fish, being a bodybuilder...

First though, I need to sort out another wetsuit !!

Just waiting on a reply from a guy on here to see if I can get one today.

No worries mate.....

I'm considering just stitching up the back myself and neatly cutting the hood off like you said....
