Thats right folks. Coming to a sportfishing meca near U!
Been working on a little project to put some FADS around the state. Am skeptical myself as to wether or not they will work given that 94% of the catch off NSW FADS are dolphinfish-and Vic isnt renound for its dolphin fish fishery. News of catches of a couple of 10kg fish off Portland on Monday has given me a bit of hope though - http://www.wildblue.com.au/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=14&Itemid=39

Anyway, out of the 8 we wanted to install (2 at each of Portland, Barwon Heads, PPB, Lakes E), it looks like we will get the go ahead for 1 FAD! Will probably put it off Portland somewhere, out in the 100+m line???? Of course, we will advertise it when it happens. Champions!

Im hoping that off Portland it will attract more than just dolphin. Might be good for tuna, kingies and blue sharks.

BTW, also another good place to highlight the achievement of Foxy and Pete Riddle spearing a southern bluefin off Portland last week. If anyone could post a story of photos I'd be stoked! That feat has been a dream of mine for years!

BTW2, a bit shout out to Heath Folpp. He works on the NSW FAD program (http://www.fisheries.nsw.gov.au/recreational/fads). I hassled the shit out of him and he was a huge help in getting this thing project proposal together. He is a mad keen spearo. If anyone runs into him before I do, please buy him a beer or 2!

One of the best articles I have read on this forum.

Awesome news South. Can't wait to see what turns up on our "solitary" FAD.

Also, Dolphinfish in Vic? And a cobia last year in Western Port? Great!!!

Slapper, when did that go in and what is it? Is it off the top left of the end of the pier.
