my mrs's aunty was down at portsea they had a shark there as well.
they went to sorrento after portsea and another shark rocked up.
aparently she said the dorsel fin was 30 cms.
dont know where she got the info.
her daughter is a life guard down at portsea or sorento so somwhere in there she got 30 cms.

Unfortunately there was a shark story in the paper Today. A swimmer was killed in New Zealand.

The Sorrento shark turned out to be a large seal basking with one fin up - which makes more sense.
Usual media beat up.

Seal - Probably another government paid expert like Mimi McPherson(George Costanza School of Marine Biology) lying on the beach that ID it.

Should have stuck with her nudie tapes!

I was planning on spearing around the sorrento area boat based this weekend and that 'shark sighting' was making me think twice aha.

Plenty of sharks at Sorrento, and Rye and Rosebud and every where bloody else. Fuck me you people make a big to do about nothing. If you don't like the idea of one day meeting a potentially dangerous critter than you have chosen the WRONG pastime.

Was outside talking to my neighbour and his mage(who is a very experienced fisho) and he told me one of his mates jumped in at the schanck recently to look for some kingys n ended up being circled by a great white. Has pics from his gun camera. Said he will get them and send em to my neighbour. If he gets it ill def get it off him n post here.

In 2013 there has been one shark fatality in the world which happened 27/02/13 in NZ

Since the year 2000 in Aus there has been 31 shark fatalities

Since the year 2000 in Vic there has been 2 shark fatalities.
-One in 07/07/2012 Karen Lee Scuba diver Point Lonsdale - May have been scavenged, May have been eaten.
-One in 09/05/2000 severed human foot washed ashore Koonya Beach

here in Australia there is a 1 in 3,362 chance of drowning at the beach and a 1 in 292,525 chance of being killed by a shark in one's lifetime.

284 people drowned in Australia between 1 July 2011 and 30 June 2012, 55 from beaches.
About 30 people die per year from watercraft activities.

Drowning, jetski's, boats might be tad higher on the concern list.
