This concerns all of us, even those who will never experience the wonders of the Coral Sea. Please take the time to fill in the online petition and forward it on with a short comment. If it can happen up there it can happen here so they need everyones support like we would. THE PROPOSED AREA IS HALF THE SIZE OF QUEENSLAND.

I hope that this NEVER happens, all it will do is take the eyes off the water and open it up to all kinds of illegal activities.

Do it NOW, it only takes a minute or so and submissions close on Feb 24, 2012

Read http://www.environment.gov.au/coasts/mb ... oposal.pdf to see what they are proposing. We will be locked out of just under 530 000 square km.
Submissions look much better when you can address what is being proposed rather than just saying something like "don't take away my right to spearfish"
This won't be too much of a problem for us here in Vic because most of our diving is done within state waters but things could be pretty grim in other states. the country has been chopped into 6 zones and the Coral Sea is just one of them.

Thanks for that greg, that is what gives this forum credibility and is good reason why you should be a part of an organisation.

As always with these things, individual submissions count for more than form submissions, so if you've got ten minutes or so, sign the petition and write a quick submission here:

http://www.environment.gov.au/coasts/mb ... ubmissions

It doesn't have to be long; short and to the point is better.

Thanks Kiwi, I am glad that you are on board. I have just filled in the submission on behalf of the club which did stress me out somewhat as I have left today to pack and do some final preparation for my trip up to that region. I am quite annoyed that the AUF has not contacted any of us in SFD in regard to this issue nor any issues that they have in the pipeline. Thanks to Rob Torelli for making me aware of this issue motivating me to post it on our forum NOT AUF.

ONCE AGAIN COULD EVERYONE THAT READS THIS PLEASE GO TO THE ABOVE LINKS AND SPEND SOME TIME FILLING THEM OUT. If anyone needs help, pm me.

5pm is when the submissions close - come on guys, only an hour left to have your say.

Get stuck in.

Make an individual submission: http://www.environment.gov.au/coasts/mb ... alsea.html

Sign the petition: http://savespearfishinginthecoralsea.we ... actnow.htm

Do both if you want; I am.

**I suspect the individual submissions may count for more.

That being said,... everything counts.

Cheers.
