I'd like to thank Brad and Watto for coming down. Top effort guys. we ended up with 5 divers but 2 of them decided to just wade. I guess one had an excuse because of his arm being broken and in a sling.
It was good to see what the crew down there are all about. They know that they will never get rid of them but the data they are getting on them will hopefully one day prove to be useful.

Hi All
Many thanks to those who helped collect the NPS last Saturday. I know it was early and sorry
this info is late, but I just wanted to ensure it was as correct as possible.

8184 were collected. With a whopping 28.3kgs picked up by the divers, totalling 3539
seastars. Area 3 was next with 2239, area 1 with 1643 and area 2 with 763. Total weight was
52 kilos. Due to lack of volunteers, areas 4 & 5 were not touched.

This was completed with no dedicated landcrew, so there was a lot of running back and forth,
and not a lot of volunteers who have been before. So those who came did a fantastic job. I
know Saturdays may be hard for a lot of people, but this is the time to collect them as they
are coming closer, while the water is cooler.

Next month it all happens again onSaturday 17 September. Low tide is around 12pm so you can
sleep in and get there from 9.30. I will be there from 9am.

Last week, unfortunately, we didnt have time for the stand up paddleboard. So I will be
offering free rides on the 17 September, as long as you pick up seastars first!

Let me know if you can make it 17 September, 9.30am by emailing juliannestuart@yahoo.com
or press reply and Zoe will forward it.

Many thanks
Julianne
